Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information StrideForever ("we", "us") collects when you use our running calculators at strideforever.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. We have deliberately built the site to need as little of your data as possible.

The short version

• Our calculators run entirely in your browser — your inputs (paces, times, distances, ages) are never sent to a server. The one exception is our AI Run Analysis tool, where you choose to upload a .fit file that is processed on our server in the moment and then discarded (see "AI Run Analysis" below).
• We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or any personal details to use the tools.
• The site is supported by advertising (Google AdSense) and affiliate links. Our advertising partners may use cookies, and in the EEA, UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs. Every calculation happens locally in your browser. The numbers you type are never transmitted to us and are not retained after you leave or refresh the page.

Your preferences. When you choose a unit (km or miles) or a language, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. This stays on your device; it is not a tracking cookie and is not sent to us.

Technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically processes standard request data — such as your IP address, browser type, and the page requested — to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. This is used for security and reliability, not to identify you.

AI Run Analysis (.fit upload)

Our AI Run Analysis tool is the one feature that sends data to a server. When you upload a Garmin .fit file, it is transmitted to our Cloudflare Worker, parsed and analysed in the moment, and then discarded — we do not store the file, the metrics we extract from it, or the coach text we generate, and we keep no history and no account.

A .fit run file can contain heart-rate and GPS location data, which is health-adjacent. We process it solely to produce your analysis, within that single request, and we never use your data to train any model.

If you choose the "use your own API key" option, your key is sent with that one request, used once to call your chosen provider (Anthropic or OpenRouter), and never stored or logged. It is held only in your browser's memory and is gone as soon as you reload the page.

Advertising and cookies

We display ads through Google AdSense. Google and its third-party vendors use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and — with your consent where required — to personalize them based on your prior visits to this and other sites.

• You can manage or opt out of personalized advertising in your Google Ad Settings (adssettings.google.com) and via aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.

Consent

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we use a Google-certified consent management platform that asks for your choices before any non-essential cookies are set. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the privacy/consent control provided on the site.

Affiliate links

Some links to running gear are affiliate links. If you click one, the retailer may set its own cookies to attribute a possible purchase. This never costs you more. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Analytics

We do not run our own analytics or tracking scripts. Any measurement is limited to what our advertising partner (Google) performs as described above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR or similar laws — including the right to access, correct, or erase personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because we hold no account data about you, most requests relate to advertising cookies, which you control through the consent tool and the Google settings linked above. For anything else, contact us (below) and we will help.

Children

StrideForever is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or applicable law changes. The "last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
